In the aftermath of a devastating storm that claimed the lives of most of the local male population, the women of an isolated fishing village wrestle with painful memories of lost love in this melancholy tale of dashed hopes from journalist-turned-filmmaker Hicham Ayouch. Of the few males that remain in the village, respected chief Amghar (Abdellah Aourik) relays a thunderous tale of the fateful tempest to youngsters as handsome orphan Daoud (Mustapha Ait Ali) discreetly divides his time between designing a boat and presiding over a self-constructed lighthouse. Adopted by the widowed Naima (Fatima Bikourkare), who lost her husband and only son in the storm, Daoud takes comfort in the company of the nurturing woman while finding it increasingly difficult to resist the mesmerizing call of the sea.
