Synopsis:
A combination of light romance and light-footed ballet sequences, this interesting tale is directed by Veniamin Dorman and concerns a dancer in a ballet company (the Beriozka Ballet Troupe performs this latter role) who goes on tour with her troupe. They take a boat up the Volga River to perform at stops along the way, for the ordinary workers and peasants who enjoy ballet. An optician falls in love with the dancer and decides she is worth pursuing, so he gets a job in the galley on the boat to be near her. After some of the usual misunderstandings and fluctuations in any romantic courtship, it looks like the optician’s persistence will pay off.
