Synopsis:
Commissioned to paint the portrait of the reclusive author Leland Crompton (Jamey Sheridan), artist Alexander Miller (Hal Holbrook) is unable to travel to Crompton’s New Hampshire mansion due to illness. However, his talented daughter, Alix (Janine Turner), offers to paint the portrait instead. When she finally meets Leland, Alix is repulsed by his disfigured appearance, which was caused by a disease. But as they both spend more time together, they become increasingly attracted to one another.
