Synopsis:
In this film adaptation of the opera, set in 13th-century Hungary, Otto (Denes Gulyas), the brother of Endre the Second (Kolos Kovats), intends to seduce Melinda (Andrea Rost), the wife of viceroy Bánk Bán (Attila Kiss B.). Bánk is loyal to the ruling regime, so when his brother, Petur (Sandor Solymon-Nagy), organizes a rebellion against Endre, Bánk wants no part of it. However, when Bánk is informed of Otto’s lascivious plans, he decides to join his brother’s revolution.
