Robert Bronzi is still out there in the indie genre space, toting big guns, and they’re coming in hot with a new crime/thriller werewolf movie called 12 to Midnight (which sounds way more interesting than 11:48 PM EST).    The actor who is a dead ringer to Charles Bronson is teaming up with UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz, Daniel Roebuck and Sadie Katz in a crime/thriller creature feature from Mark Savage. The trailer and key art came out with the release information this morning. Check out the trailer down below.   TRAILER RELEASED FOR NEW CRIME/HORROR THRILLER 12 TO MIDNIGHT, STARRING ROBERT BRONZI, TITO ORTIZ, AND DANIEL ROEBUCK,   STREETING AUGUST 1ST   12 to Midnight, the new crime/horror thriller starring Robert Bronzi (Death…

Fantasia 2024: SINCOPAT, Short Film Short Review

During the opening credits of short film, Sincopat, many festival laurels are initially displayed onscreen. Then, following a loud ‘bang’ on the soundtrack, several dozen more appear. This is a first for me, but it is in sync with the aural focus of the film. I do not recall ever seeing so many festival laurels in a single place, and never introduced with sound design. I may be late to the party of this incredible little film, but I am happy to be at the party.    In the near future, a Catalunyan tech company has invented a device that allows music to be sent directly into your brain via implant. This eliminates the need for earbuds (or the far better, wired headphones) and puts the…

Fantasia 2024 Review: SCARED SHITLESS, A Creature Feature Worth Taking The Plunge

A friend of mine, an astute and well travelled film-lover, once told me their ‘big theory’ of audience engagement for most movies: The viewer will like the movie more if the main character is simply good at doing their job. In Scared Shitless, Don the plumber is not only great at his profession, but also deeply enthusiastic about its problem solving aspects, clearing a clog, finding its source, doing the job right. In his experience, “Fix one problem, and two more can bubble up.” Well that along with, “shit happens.”    This is all-too-painfully evident by the recent, sudden, death of Don’s wife from a rare stomach bug. The the loss has turned his only son into a shut-in, and a panicky germaphobe. In the spirit of…

THE KILLER’S GAME: Official Poster Revealed

My interest in action comedy The Killer’s Game was piqued for a couple of reasons. Dave Bautista is arguably one of the most entertaining wrestlers who pivoted into acting and it was directed by stunt professional turned director, JJ Perry, whose work on their debut Day Shift was really good.   Bet you thought I was going to mention Sofia Boutella, because Sofia Boutella. Oh wait- damnit!    In the new action-comedy THE KILLER’S GAME, when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of…

ARROW Player in August: Selects by Hendrix, van den Houten’s OFFSPRING 4K, And More…

Next month’s lineup of programming on Arrow Video’s ARROW Player has been announced and as always there are a lot of gems coming in August.    First, we have two Selects programs coming up from one of my favorite authors, Grady Hendrix, someone I can always turn to for book referals about specific subgenres in horror literature. Andrew van den Houten, filmmaker and producer, also offers up some prime choices as well.    While we’re on the topic of van den Houten, there 2009 film Offspring, based on Jack Ketchum’s book by the same name, has gotten the 4K treatment and will be on the streaming platform at the end of the month.    There are a lot of goodies, old and new, to be…
